NewsDraft ConstitutionSaturday, March 16, 2013Today, 16 March 2013, the majority of Zimbabweans vote in a referendum for a constitution they have never seen. The following are the reasons we say NO to the Draft Constitution: (1) Accountability of the President: It is not stated explicitly how and under what conditions can the President be held accountable by the people of Zimbabwe and not only by Parliament. (2) Two Vice Presidents - No, this promotes a partisan and bureaucratic state. It has served the purpose for which it was introduced. (3) Domestic Policy - not stated explicility as is the foreign policy. Hence no solutions to our domestic problems of inequality, hunger, violence, etc. (4) Dual Citizenship. No, Zimbabweans must be proud to be Zimbabweans - patriotic and loyal. Those who have lost or denounced their citizenship for whatever reasons can apply.
